What is 1-800-ChatGPT?
1-800-ChatGPT is an experimental feature that enables wider access to ChatGPT. You can interact with ChatGPT via phone calls at 1-800-CHATGPT without needing an account.
You can start a conversation by calling 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478) from a U.S. or Canadian number from supported countries. Standard carrier fees may apply.
Important: WhatsApp integration has been deprecated and is no longer available as of January 15, 2026.

Can I unlink my phone number from my OpenAI account?
We do not currently allow users to unlink phone numbers from OpenAI accounts.
What usage limits apply when I call 1-800-ChatGPT?
You can talk to 1-800-ChatGPT for 30 minutes per month for free (US and CA only). We may adjust usage limits based on capacity if needed.
We provide a notice as you approach the limit and inform you when the limit has been reached.
You can continue chatting with ChatGPT by downloading the ChatGPT app at chatgpt.com/download or going to chatgpt.com.

Background noise may cause unintended responses; we recommend enabling noise isolation features on your device.
On iPhones, enabling Voice Isolation mode via Control Panel > Mic Mode > Voice Isolation can help to avoid unintentional interruptions
Using headphones or earphones can help prevent interruptions.
Do you retain conversations from 1-800-ChatGPT?
We do store and may review your calls and transcripts of calls with 1-800-ChatGPT for a limited period of time for safety and abuse prevention purposes. Learn more about how we may review your content for safety.
How do I export my data from 1-800-ChatGPT or request for data to be deleted?
Your conversations with 1-800-ChatGPT are associated with the phone number you used to call 1-800-ChatGPT. For information about how to access or delete your data, you can review our Privacy Policy.
Why is 1-800-ChatGPT telling me it can’t help me or being unresponsive to my prompts?
There are multiple reasons 1-800-ChatGPT may not respond to your prompts. This is the first time we are enabling access to ChatGPT through phone calls. We expect to continue improving 1-800-ChatGPT as we better understand its usage.
You may also not be getting a response to your prompt as a result of our safety measures. If it seems like your prompt is in line with our Usage Policies, then please send us feedback at help.openai.com or click on the widget in the bottom right hand corner of this page. To report potential policy violations or illegal content, you can do so at our Report Content webform and select ChatGPT as the product.
My number has been blocked, can you please unblock my number?
